DT : Hi everyone in this chat room!
Jigswigs: Hello! Dolly.
Me: Welcome, Dolly Thakore.
Mc Connell: Dolly, how old are you and where are you put up?
DT :: I just completed my 57th birthday on March 10. I live on Peddar Road.
Thakur da: Is Dolly your real name or pseudo one?
DT :Dolly Thakore is my real name.
Sroy: What is your next venture?
Jigswigs: What projects are you involved in these days?
DT :Is Jigwigs a pet name for that cooking Sardarji? Well, coming to the project I am involved these days, I am involved with a premier digital movie channel that was launched in London on Aug 26 for all of UK, UAE in December, and in the USA in February. It is like Zee Cinema or STAR Movies bringing Bollywood films to viewer's abroad 24-hour of the day.
MODERATOR: How much of a capitalist are you?
DT :I am not a capitalist since my bank account is nil. But I love the good things of life and therefore spend every paisa I earn. I work very very hard!
MODERATOR: Tell us about your fabulous collection of mundus, is it not for men only?
DT :This has to be someone whom I know asking me about my 24 sets of mundus. I was hooked on them when I visited Trivandrum, now Thiruvananthapuram - in 1989. They became my trademark like a lot of other things in my life. The weather in Mumbai has been so cool recently, that I have given my Mumdus a rest for a few months.
Jigswigs: What role do you have to play in the movie channel that you are involved with?
DT :I am the Director of Public Relations for it. It promises to offer a great deal. The channel has just tied in with Fashion TV and MCM. Its objective is to bring India to the world, not just to NRIs.
Jigswigs: I believe you are an excellent mother.
DT :I think I am. But ask my son about the kind of mother I am!
MODERATOR: Dolly are you still vigorously involved in theatre?
DT :I have a rehearsal here at home as soon as I get off the line. My son Quasar is directing Arthur Miller' ALL MY SONS. He is my biggest critic. If he thinks I am suitable, then you may see me on stage in a few months. We work over two months on a play.
Me: About your website ma'am, how many people have logged on to that site till date?
DT :The company that put my database on the web is monitoring that. I am not quite adept at the computer except for typing mail to my million friends and family members abroad.
Bindiya: Any reason to sport that big bindi?
DT :Somehow, I feel my face lacks character without that red dot. It has become a trademark now. Even I do not recognise myself in photographs that may appear without that Bindi.
MODERATOR: Why did you retain your married name, why not revert to your maiden name?
DT : I had established my reputation in the media as Dolly Thakore. I rather liked the name and the Thakore family -- including my first husband Dilip.
Me: Has it been a very tough life being a single woman?
DT : I would not change a single day of my life. There have been tears and disappointments, but it has made me the woman I am. I have a large extended family and am very happy with all of Alyque's three households.
Bindiya: Would you like to be called a social light?
DT : I am a social light, but I have worked well and in interesting projects to have the spotlight focussed on me. The media wants to convey messages of success and courage and independence. Hence the media saturation.
