Mister Money: Mr Kumar, why did you take a stake in indiainfo.com?
AK : VSNL tie up with indiainf.com has been a result of a long process which began in November 99 where in we started looking at the content and e com capabilities being provided by the portal companies. I believe that we have an excellent deal with a powerfully developing portal and with a reasonably equity stake we did not want to pick a company which is fully matured and already has a tie up with other ISP's.
Bull Clinton: What will be the benefits to VSNL from the new tie-up with dot com company?
AK : Mr Clinton... we believe that with our infrastructure and strengths in networking we can smoothly move into a competitive scenario in the near future of the net revolution in India.
Chat_king: Mr Kumar, where is VSNL headed, specifically what was VSNL concentrate on after the Monopoly in ISD ends?
AK : VSNL today is already welldiversified into Internet, private data networks Tv up linking and other value-added services.

Chat_king: Is VSNL really geared to face the competition?
AK : Our net revenues from our services 400 crores last year as against net
Telephony revenues of 2000 crores which means that we are diversified to about 20% already. We hope to increase that in the current year to over 30%
Chat_king: But how relevant would these services be when Internet bandwidth would be available for the asking?
AK :There are already too many players in the market coming with our stations and gateways which are expected to number over 200 in the next 6 months this is by far too large for a country like India and the bandwidths required over the next 2-3 years. Don't you think Internet would be convergence of all these technologies in the future? Essentially we are well placed in terms of providing infrastructure to all Indian Corporation and major ISP's for net working facilities.
Chat_king: But sir ISP's are setting up its own gateways
AK : chat king... we believe that we still have major strengths and there is going to be a shake out in the internet market---- in no country you would find this scenario.
